Understanding the Procedure of Dental Implants

Dental Implant treatments are specifically designed to provide foundation for the teeth that has been replaced and make it feel, look and work just like your natural teeth. The person will regain his ability to eat anything he wants after losing teeth with the help of dental implants. Apart from that, dental implants activate and maintain jaw bone, avoiding bone loss and a person’s facial features will be maintained. After the treatment, patients can have a confident smile.

Dental implants are basically small titanium posts that are placed into the jawbone with the help of surgery, they are placed in the place where teeth are missing. These metal posts function as root substitutes of tooth. The bone gets adjusted with titanium, making a good foundation for fake teeth. Small posts that stick out through the gums are attached with implants later. These posts act as strong anchors for artificial teeth replacement.

The Procedure of Dental Implant
For many patients, the dental implant placement includes two surgical processes and can be considered to be part of Oral Surgery.
Firstly, implants are fixed within the jawbone. For first 3 months after the surgery, the implants are below the gum surface and they eventually bone with jawbone. You will be provided with temporary dentures and you can eat soft food for some time. Your dentist will make a new replacement tooth for you at the same time.
Once the implant has bonded well to the jawbone, the second stage starts. Your implants will be uncovered by the dentist and he or she will attach small posts that stick out through the gums and will function as anchors for fake teeth. When the fake teeth are fixed, you will not be able to see the posts anymore. The whole process normally takes around 8 months. Patients will not face any complication or disturbance in their routine life because of dental implant procedure.
